Look For Connection

‘Tis the season! 🏈❤️💛

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a HUGE Chiefs fan. When they win, I’m elated. When they lose, I legit feel a pain in my soul lol…

Like everything in my life, I’ve learned to be curious as to why I feel the way I feel, why I do the things I do, why I believe the things I believe, etc.

So, I’ve thought about this a lot…

How could something I have absolutely no control over - a game played by men I don’t know, hundreds of miles away - cause me joy or sadness…?

What I realized is…

It’s connection.

It’s that feeling of being connected to something greater than ourselves… something out of our control, but still within our world view… being connected to others in emotion & understanding.

For me, I think my love for Chiefs football started as a way to feel connected to my family. I’ve always felt like the oddball in my family because my path hasn’t looked like the others… I have different dreams & desires, different views of the world, different interests, and different ways of expressing my emotions than the rest of my family… but, feeling joy with every Chiefs victory, or feeling the crushing disappointment with every loss, alongside my family (even when we’re in different locations) is a way I feel connected to them. I’ve realized this connection goes way beyond my immediate family… there’s a feeling of camaraderie when I pass someone in the supermarket wearing Chiefs gear, even when the other person has no idea I’m a fan as well… there’s a feeling of belonging when I attend games at Arrowhead, you can feel the collective energy in the stadium… or even at home on my couch, there’s a feeling of connection to the players, the fans, and the common desire for victory…

Connection is what makes us feel alive.

Without connection we feel numb, lost, alone, & fearful… which causes us to shut down… which isn’t really living at all… it’s surviving.

The reality is, connection never ceases to exist… we just forget to look for it & feel it.

We are all connected… to each other, to the earth, to Source (God), to everything… even silly things like football. 😉

Look for the connection in your life. Allow yourself to feel connection, fully - to others, to your surroundings, to yourself… you’ll realize you’re never really alone, even when you’re in solitude, and your presence matters.

Thank you for allowing me to connect with you through my written words, and…

GO CHIEFS!!! ❤️💛❤️💛

XO,

-Stacie
