Don’t Keep Making A ‘Mistake’ Because You’ve Spent A Long Time Making It.

Don’t keep making a mistake because you’ve spent a long time making it.

First, let me preface what I’m about to say with… I actually don’t think there is such thing as a mistake. There are decisions that are aligned with our highest Self, and there are decisions that aren’t in alignment with our highest Self (what we feel are mistakes).

But, I digress…

Our current situation is because of our previous decisions.

So, what happens when we don’t like our current situation? When we’re unhealthy, irritable & discontent?

We choose something different, right?

Well, not always…

As humans, our nervous system is wired for safety. It’s constantly scanning our surroundings to make sure there isn’t an immediate threat, such as a wild animal that wants to eat us. This has been useful in the survival of our species, but it can also keep us in situations that aren’t ideal.

Once we’ve lived in an environment, our nervous system categorizes it as “safe” simply because we’ve survived there thus far… moving to a new environment (leaving the tribe) could potentially have new threats we’re not aware of, so it feels less safe… but the reality is, where we are may not actually be safe, or at the very least, it may not be a healthy, thriving environment for us to show up as our best self.

It’s very common to keep choosing what we’ve always known, because of this innate fear of change…

We’ll stay in unhappy or dysfunctional relationships, toxic jobs, or oppressive institutions because we know how to survive there. These places may have served us at one time, but as we change as a person, they may become unhealthy to us… they may have been unhealthy to us the whole time, but maybe because of our previous life experiences, they felt normal…

Normal isn’t optimal.

Your future is dependent on the decisions to make today. If you want a healthy, happy, thriving future, you have to make decisions that will make it possible. If you want a future that is different than your present, you have to make choices that are different than the ones you made in the past.

You are the creator of your life… because how you spend your days is how you spend your life.

Be intentional. Be present. Be you, fully.

Make the choices that are in alignment with your highest Self, not your fear. There are no mistakes, but there are missed opportunities to experience life fully when we go through life on autopilot.

How amazing it is that we each have the opportunity to experience this messy, magnificent life in a completely different way.

Your existence at this time & place is for a purpose. Own it.

XO,

Stacie
